DEATH OF TUSKERS

3284.    SHRI G. HARI:
Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state:

(a)    whether it is true that a large number of tuskers were found dead in many parts of the country if so, the details thereof, State-wise;
(b)    whether the Government has sought a detailed report from the concerned State Governments in this regard; and
(c)    if so, the details and outcome thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI ANIL MADHAV DAVE)

(a)     No report has been received regarding large scale death of tuskers.  However, there has been report of death of elephants, State-wise details, during last three years, are given in Annexure.

(b) & (c)     No specific report has been sought from State Governments of elephant range states.  However, Chief Wildlife Wardens of elephant range States; periodically send us particulars of elephant mortalities.
