NGOs IN ANIMAL WELFARE

Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state:         

 

(a)     the number and names of NGOs working in the field of animal welfare, registered as Societies/Trusts/Voluntary Organizations (VOs) recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) for carrying out animal relief/rehabilitation work of stray animals in Delhi;

 

(b)     the details of such NGOs set up as Charitable institutions and are charging citizens for treatment of distressed animals;

 

(c)     whether AWBI has ensured compliance of standards and maintenance of mortality registers in these NGOs, if so, the details thereof and if not, the action taken thereon;

 

(d)    whether it is a fact that some NGOs have been employing Veterinary Doctors not legally registered to practice in Delhi, if so, the details of complaints received, violations reported and the action taken in this regard since 2010; and

(e) whether the AWBI has received complaints of illegal ABC surgeries by unauthorized para vet staff of some NGOs, if so, the details and the action taken in this regard since 2010?

(a)   The list of Animal Welfare Organizations (NGOs) recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) and functioning in Delhi is at Annexure I.

(b)   The AWBI does not maintain the details of NGOs set up as Charitable institutions and charging citizens for treatment of distressed animals.

(c )  The AWBI does not have information regarding the maintenance of mortality register in these NGOs.

 

(d)   The AWBI does not have information regarding the illegal employment of unregistered Veterinary doctors practicing in Delhi.

 

(e)   The AWBI has not received any complaint of illegal ABC surgeries being carried out  by unauthorized para vet staff of some NGOs of Delhi.
